New Delhi, Feb 16 (UNI) Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday took oath as Chief Minister of Delhi for the third time, promising to continue with his development work in the city-state and indicating a national play for his Aam Aadmi Party.
He said with the Assembly election a new kind of politics has emerged that will build the 21 century India.
'This is the politics of schools, hospitals, 24-hour and cheap power supply, water, roads, women's security, corruption-free Delhi, and politics of a 21st century India. This new politics is being discussed all over the country," Kejriwal said, addressing a huge gathering at the historic Ramlila Maidan in the national capital.
"Politicians across the country used to say state government schools cannot be improved, but people here have given the Kejriwal government as an example," the AAP national convenor said.
He termed this as "politics of work and performance" and sought cooperation of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre to speed up the development of Delhi.
'I had invited PM for the oath ceremony today, but I guess he could not make it because he is busy. I want the PM to bless us so that we can work for the development and progress of Delhi,' he said.
Kejriwal dedicated his stupendous victory to the people of Delhi.
"I want to work with everyone. I am the CM of every Delhiite. You are now my family and I will work for you irrespective of class, economic status, religion and caste."
Kejriwal said his government in the last five years had tried to bring prosperity and happiness in the lives of each and every Delhiite. "In the last five years, we have tried to increase the pace of development in Delhi, and we will continue to do so in the next five years."
Making a reference to the remarks made by the Opposition against AAP during the election campaign, the AAP leader said that there is nothing unusual to have differences among various parties during elections.
"We have forgiven our opposition for whatever remarks they made on us. I would also like to request the opposition parties to forget what happened during the elections.'
Over the criticism by the opposition on freebies offered by the AAP government, he said, "They say Kejriwal is making everything free, but I want to say that everything precious in the world is free...Kejriwal is your Shravan Kumar. Do I start charging people for education and health? Do I start charging patients for their operations? That is not possible."
Prior to his swearing-in, Kejriwal held a meeting with his erstwhile cabinet colleagues on Saturday and discussed priority initiatives in the coming three months.
