K'taka announces award to crew that saved hundred of lives at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus

Hubballi, 25 Jul (UNI) In appreciation of taking timely action taken by the crew, which had saved hundred of lives of passengers of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, train whose Engine and Two Coaches were derailed on last Friday between Dudhsagar – Kulem Section of the Hubballi division of the South Western Railway (SWR) cash award has been announced today.
In recognition of their good deed, Mr. Gajanan Mallya, General Manager of the SWR today announced a Cash Award to the crew of the Train including the Loco Pilot, Asst. Loco Pilot and the Guard of the Train.
According to the press release, On 23 July, at about 6.10 AM, while driving the engine of this train from Kulem Castle Rock (up the Ghat), at km 39/800 near Dudhsagar-Sonaulim section, the Locopilot of the leading engine Shri Ranjeet Kumar observed that the mud was slipping ahead on the track from the side walls of the hill beside the track, due to continuous very heavy rainfall.
