New Delhi, Feb 13 (UNI) Justice PV Sanjay Kumar, present Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court.
A notification, issued by Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice on Friday, read,' In the exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Puligoru Venkata Sanjay Kumar, Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, to be the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office."
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his appointment as the new CJ of the Manipur HC in January 2021.
Current Chief Justice of Manipur HC Ramalingam Sudhakar will retire on February 13.
Justice Kumar was enrolled as an Advocate on August 25, 1988 and practiced in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh in Civil, Constitutional and Service matters.
He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on August 8, 2008 and as Permanent Judge on January 20, 2010. He was transferred to Punjab and Haryana High Court in October 2019.
