New Delhi, Dec 17 (UNI) Janata Dal (United) has said that the government decision to advance budget for fiscal 2017-18 to first of February would "violate" the election code of conduct as notification for assembly polls will be already enforced. "This can be a violation of election code. We will oppose it," senior Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav told UNI here. He said one of the strategies of the JD(U) will be to petition the Election Commission itself. "Let's see what comes out," he said adding at least there can be a general advisory from the poll panel that the government may restrain from announcing "sops" for the poll-bound states. "Lucrative schemes trying to woo various sections of people in these poll-bound states including Uttar Pradesh can influence the voting pattern of the electorate," he said. The crucial assembly polls are to be held in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur by March 2017. The Election Commission notification is likely to be issued by December end. The ruling BJP has, however, said, the poll code of conduct does not apply to the general budget of the Central government. Sharad Yadav has sought to counter this saying, "It is only a convention and not tradition". UNI DEVN RSA 1218
