Japan's Kishida not planning elections until LDP lawmakers penalised for scandal

Tokyo, Mar 18 (UNI) Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida plans to take disciplinary action against the lawmakers of his Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) involved in the slush funds scandal before calling snap elections, Japanese news agency Kyodo reported on Monday.

Japan's prime minister has the authority to dissolve parliament and call snap elections. The current assembly is scheduled to end in October 2025, while the current session will end in June of this year.
