Jaishankar stresses the importance of mature leadership to navigate ongoing conflicts

Bengaluru, April 16 (UNI) External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on Tuesday stressed the importance of mature leadership in navigating the ongoing conflicts, such as the Russia-Ukraine war and the situation in Gaza, along with tensions in the Indo-Pacific region and strained relations between numerous countries.
"Right now we are having a war in Ukraine and Gaza. And there is tension between Israel and Iran. Things in Indo-Pacific also are difficult. So we are looking at a very stormy outlook. In this situation, we have to have the ability to take the right call.
"We have to not only protect and prosper at home but also manage the risks outside the country. And it is important for the Indian public to say what kind of leadership do I need to navigate from this difficult course ahead," he said speaking at an interactive session titled "Vishwababdhu" organised by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) here.
Dr Jaishankar underscored India's strategic intent to enhance its global standing through the "Vishwabandhu" concept. This concept emphasises India's commitment to building stronger relationships and fostering collaboration with countries around the world.
He also spoke about the global implementation of the 'Sab ka Saath, Sab ka Vikas' philosophy, reflecting India's dedication to inclusive growth and shared prosperity on the international stage. It signifies India's aspiration to contribute positively to global development, promoting unity, inclusivity, and mutual advancement.
Dr Jaishankar highlighted India's impressive economic growth and its rising prominence on the global economic stage. Moving from the 11th position to the 5th position signifies India's significant progress and growing influence in the global economy, he said.
The EAM also mentioned India's leadership in key technological sectors, such as manufacturing electric vehicles and chips, reflecting India's commitment to innovation, technology, and sustainable development.
Furthermore, Dr Jaishankar underlined the importance of harnessing both artificial intelligence (AI) and natural intelligence to propel India's growth to the next level. He believes that India possesses the necessary capabilities and potential to excel in this era of rapid technological advancement.
