New Delhi, Jan 8 (UNI) UK-based car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) on Monday reported a growth of seven per cent at 6,21,109 units in 2017.
The company said Jaguar sold 178,601 cars, up 20 per cent on the year before, while Land Rover sales rose two per cent to 442,508.
The sales had more than tripled since 2009.
It said this was the seventh successive year of growth, which was driven by the introduction of new models and increased uptake of its clean diesel and petrol engines.
Andy Goss, Jaguar Land Rover Group Sales Operations Director, said: “We have once again delivered year-on-year sales increases thanks to a world-class product range and new models such as the E-PACE and Velar, as well as China-specific models such as the XFL.
“But we are facing tough times in key markets such as the UK where consumer confidence and diesel taxes will hit us,” he added.
Growth in China and the US had helped offset the impact of difficult market conditions in the European, UK and Overseas markets.
China was the company’s largest sales region in 2017 with annual sales of 146,399, up 23 per cent year-on-year. North America reported a calendar year record with sales of 128,097, 9 per cent up on the previous high in 2016, JLR added.
