J&K HC issues notice to Cong MLA, others in murder case

Srinagar, Jun 7 (UNI) Issuing a notice to sitting Congress MLA from Bandipora and others accused to have killed a Jamait-e-Islami (JeI) activist in 1993, Jammu and Kashmir High Court has directed police to file status report of the case on next date of hearing on July 11.
The HC passed the orders on a petition filed by Jammu Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCS) alleging that on June 6, 1993, Congress MLA, Usman Majeed, then a member of counter insurgency “Ikhwan”, working with security forces, shot dead one Abdul khaliq Wani for his association with JeI at Madwan Hajin in Bandipora district.
The JKCCS petition alleged that killing of Wani was witnessed by the family members of the victim.
