It's my Responsibility to visit Rumtek: Karmapa

Gangtok, June 26 (UNI) The17th Karmapa Ugen Thrinley Dorjee, who turned 38 on Sunday, has said he would be happy to return to India and visit the Roomtek Monastery here
Responding to Sikkim's Minister of Ecclesiastical Affairs Sonam Lama, Dorjee said: 'The Rumtek Dharma Chakra is very important to me, as this is the place my predecessor the 16th Karmapa Rangjing Rigpe Dorjee chose to establish his main centre-in-exile. Therefore, it has been my earnest hope and responsibility to visit Rumtek Monastery for a long time," wrote the Karmapa.
The Karmapa said he has been staying out of India since 2017 and in the interim chose to adopt the citizenship of another country only to facilitate his travel around the world in pursuit of religious activities.
