ISKCON Mayapur to celebrate opening of world’s largest pujari seva facility on Feb 13

Kolkata, Feb 6 (UNI) ISKCON Mayapur in West Bengal, the World Headquarters of the
International Society for Krishna Consciousness, founded by His Divine Grace A.C.
Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, will celebrate the opening of the world’s largest
pujari seva facility on February 13 at the rising Temple of the Vedic Planetarium, slated
for its Grand Opening in 2022.
Devotees, senior Sanyasis from more than 77 countries are expected to participate in
the festivities.
This pujari seva facility is over 2.5 acres in size and is fitted with 20+ specially designed
rooms for the worship of Sri Sri Radha Madhava, Sri Pancha Tattva and Sri Nrsimha.
Begun almost ten years ago in 2009, this occasion represents what will be India’s largest
Vedic temple built in modern history.
Nearly the size of the Giza pyramid, the temple boasts one of the tallest and widest domes
on a religious structure in the world, and has a square footage of 400,000 feet capable of
holding 10,000 people inside the temple room alone.
The universe as scientifically described in the Vedic scriptures will be presented in the form
of a three-dimensional, working model hanging from the ceiling of the main dome.
The main altar will be the largest in the world with Deities of Radha Krishna and the Astha
Sakhis, Lord Caitanya and His associates, and the Gaudiya Vaishnava parampara Acharyas.
A separate altar will house the divine form of Sri Nrsimhadeva avatar.
Initially funded by Alfred Ford (Ambarisa Das), the great grandson of U.S. auto magnate
Henry Ford, the devotees have succeeded in raising additional donations for the project and
the grand opening is scheduled for March 2022.
This project heralds one of the most important in ISKCON’s 54-year history and fulfills the
vision of Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada to bring the Vedic culture and wisdom
to the attention of worldwide audiences through a scientific and authoritative presentation
based on Vedic knowledge. In his own words: “We shall show the Vedic conception of
planetary system within this material world and above the material world. We are going to
exhibit the Vedic culture throughout the whole world, and they'll come here. Just like they
come to see the Taj Mahal, the architectural culture, they'll come to see the civilization
culture, the philosophical culture, the religious culture by practical demonstration with dolls
and other things. Actually it will be a unique thing in the world. There is no such thing all
over the world. That we shall do,” ISKCON media spokesperson Subroto Das on Thursday
informed.
