International University has new administrative office

Imphal, Oct 8 (UNI) Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam on Tuesday inaugurated the Administrative Office of Manipur International University, MIU at Ghari.
He said the state needs more university and higher educational institution to facilitate thousands of students passing out from colleges to pursue higher studies.
Although, there are already two universities - the Manipur University and Dhanamanjuri Cluster University, many students who are unable to get admission at the Manipur University pursue higher education outside the State and abroad.
But, most of the students who can't manage admission in the two universities in the state leave their studies because of financial and family constraints.
Th. Radheshyam said that Manipur International University (MIU) is an Autonomous Public University established by the State Government of Manipur via Manipur International University Ordinance, 2018 (Manipur Ordinance No.1 of 2018) and was notified in the Official Gazette on 26th June 2018. The MIU plans to establish campuses in different parts of the state.
The Minister said that he is hopeful that the establishment of the MIU and its campuses will help in engaging the young minds in skill training inculcating innovative and new ideas. Students need to be encouraged to take up applied research to find solutions of the problems. He also opined that lakhs of rupees are drain out from the State as many people pursue facilities available outside the State in health and education sector. The need of the hour is to put more focus in qualitative improvement in education and health sector.
Chief Secretary, Manipur, Dr. J. Suresh Babu stated that under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes and from the efforts of Department of Education substantial improvement is seen in the educational system. It is important to inculcate a sense of confidence among the guardians and parents towards our improved educational system. Making the children grow under the observation of the parents will keep them safe rather than leaving them on their own faith.
Institutions in state need to be groomed to bring quality education. In Manipur once a self sustainable level of higher education is attained there will be quality students and providing them with better opportunities.
The inauguration was attended by the Chancellor, MIU Dr. Harikumar Pallathadka, village chiefs, teachers and students.
