Insurance cover of Rs 50 lk approved under PM Garib Kalyan Package

New Delhi, Mar 29 (UNI) An insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh for 90 days to a total of around 22.12 lakh public healthcare providers, including community health workers, who may have to be in direct contact and care of COVID-19 patients and who may be at risk of being impacted by this, has been approved under the newly-announced Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package.
The insurance provided under the scheme would be over and above any other insurance cover being availed of by the beneficiary, an official statement here said.
Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Niramla Sitharaman on Thursday announced a Rs 1.7 lakh crore relief package under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana for the poor, to help them fight the battle against Novel Coronavirus.
