Information Minister hands over financial assistance to journalists

Imphal, Nov 14 (UNI) Information & Public Relations Minister Thongam Biswajit handed over financial assistance to six media persons at his official residence today under the Manipur State Journalists Welfare Scheme (MSJWS), Department of Information and Public Relations, Government of Manipur.
The scheme was launched formally on June 30, 2017 at City Convention Centre, Imphal by the Chief Minister N Biren Singh as part of important programme of the new Government's 100 day's achievement.
Th. Biswajit said the government is trying to increase health, pension and ex-gratia amounts. A one time ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs is provided to family members of deceased journalists, Rs 50,000 to one lakh for medical treatment and Rs 4,000 pension to retired journalists.
