Earlier, talking to reporters, AICC spokesperson and former Union Minister Veerappa Moily said that while the Congress is not opposed to the Triple Talaq Bill, as it helps to ensure gender equality, it is against putting civil cases relating to civil marriage in the category of crime.
He said that this bill has been brought with the negative mindset of being happy with the troubles of others.
Mr Moily said that Congress has been demanding that the Bill be sent to the Select Committee, because it enables democratic discussions on the various provisions, whereas in the House it is not possible for political reasons.
''Modi government is not ready for this because it does not believe in Parliamentary Democracy and wants to pass it in an arbitrary manner,''he said.
