India will engage with members towards realising nuclear weapons free world: Foreign Secretary at UN

United Nations, Sep 28 (UNI) India said on Tuesday that as a responsible nuclear weapon state it has a nuclear doctrine outlining credible minimum deterrence with the posture of no-first use and non-use against non-nuclear weapon states, and added that it will engage in a spirit of openness with all member states towards realising a nuclear weapons free world.

Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, in a statement on the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons at the 76th United Nations General Assembly, said India is committed to the goal of universal, non-discriminatory, and verifiable nuclear disarmament, leading to the complete elimination of nuclear weapons.
