New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) India on Friday snubbed Pakistan in crystal clear language saying it was not for Islamabad "to decide" as to what role India or any other country has in regional or global affairs.
"It is not for Pakistan to decide as to what role another country has in regional or global affairs. Pakistan also cannot decide on behalf of an independent and sovereign country Afghanistan and dictate them as to how to conduct their foreign policy," an MEA spokesman said in response to media query at Pakistan’s statement that 'India has no role in Afghanistan'.
The spokesman further counseled: "Pakistan should first and foremost introspect its own role and responsibility in the precarious situation in Afghanistan; put an end to all kind of support to cross border terrorism from territories under Pakistan's control, and join international efforts to bring inclusive peace to Afghanistan".
The strong remarks from the MEA spokesman comes close on the heels, Pakistani Foreign Office spokesman Mohammad Faisal stating on Thursday that, "India has no role in Afghanistan.
Mr Faisal also had said that Pakistan has a difficult relationship with India, saying that despite Pakistan's efforts for normalisation, no concrete progress could be achieved in ties with India, media reports said.
