New Delhi, Feb. 17 (UNI): India on Monday made a strong demarche with the Turkish government on the remarks made by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on India's Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir during his recent visit to Islamabad.
The remarks made by the Turkish President reflect neither an understanding of history nor of the conduct of the diplomacy. They distort events of the past to advance a narrow minded view of the present, the Ministry of External Affairs said.
It said the recent episode is but one more example of a pattern of Turkey interfering in the internal affairs of other countries. India finds that completely unacceptable. Pointing out that such developments have strong strong implications for India-Turkey relationship, the MEA said that India finds the interference by Turkey in its internal affairs as completely unacceptable.
The MEA, in the demarche made by Secretary (West) to the Turkish Ambassador in New Delhi on Monday, said that India rejected the repeated attempts by Turkey to justify the cross-border terrorism practiced so blatantly by Pakistan.
