India cannot become five trillion dollar economy without manufacturing: Kant

New Delhi, Jan 11 (UNI) Niti Aayog Chief Executive Officer Amitabh Kant on Saturday said that India cannot build a five trillion dollar economy without focusing on learning and health, adding that stress on manufacturing was a must.
''Even when we are able to give education to all, our learning output is very poor. Bringing up the grade system is very important for the future development in the country, and this will lead to vast improvement in the learning output,'' Mr Kant said at an event held here.
He said the country's nutritional policy and health outcome will play an important role in the near future.
It has been found in the recent study that there is a need to give special attention to health outcome at the state level in the country, Mr Kant maintained.
''If you look at the map of the country, you will find that 115 districts are making India backward. Until these are not changed, it is very difficult to bring change in India. These districts cannot be called backward districts, instead they are being called Aspirational Districts,'' he said in a statement here.
