New Delhi/Moscow, Sep 14 (UNI) India and Russia will expand cooperation in the areas of space and business and also identified new areas of partnership such as agriculture and transport, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said in Moscow on Friday after meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov at the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific Cooperation.
"Energy is the traditional area of cooperation. Earlier this year, the first shipment of LNG from Russia arrived in India, in a new breakthrough of our energy partnership," she said in a statement.
The Minister said both sides have identified new areas of cooperation such as agriculture, infrastructure, transport and Science and Technology. "We would like to expand our cooperation in the area of space," Ms Swaraj said.
She further said both the countries and traditional partners have agreed to organise the first ever India-Russia Business Summit involving major companies from both sides in early October in India.
"I am confident that our deliberations today will further strengthen our cooperation with Russia in all fields in existing and new areas of cooperation," she said.
Ms Swaraj was in Moscow for a crucial two day visit to Russia.
