ICG ship 'Samudra Prahari' deploys boom around cruise liner to prevent disaster

Panaji, Jul 4 (UNI) The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has deployed boom around cruise liner 'MV Qing' which sank at Western India Shipyard Ltd (WISL) jetty inside port on June 29 last so that possible marine environmental disaster could be prevented.
According to Coast Guard Regional HQ (West) PRO, ICG is rendering assistance to Marmugoa Port Trust (MPT), which is coordinating agency, to prevent possibility of oil spill from MV Qing. The vessel contains 350 MT of FFO.
As a preventive measure, on request from MPT, Coast Guard District HQ-11 Goa with the assistance of Coast Guard Ship Samudra Prahari, a dedicated pollution response vessel, has deployed boom around MV Qing to prevent marine environmental disaster.
