New Delhi, Aug 16 (UNI) Former Lok Sabha MP Sushmita Dev joined the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) on Monday, hours after resigning from the Congress.
AITC, in a tweet from its official account, announced her joining and welcomed her to the party.
"We warmly welcome the former President of All India Mahila Congress Sushmita Dev to our Trinamool family!" the AITC said.
The tweet said Dev was inspired by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
She joined AITC in the presence of party leaders Abhishek Banerjee and Derek O'Brien.
Dev announced her resignation from the Congress on Monday morning.
In her resignation letter to interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi, she thanked the Congress leader for her guidance and opportunities.
She said she was about to "begin a new chapter" of "public service".
