Height of spillway gates of P’varam project increased to 51 meters

Vijayawada, Aug 12 (UNI) The height of spillway gates of Polavaram irrigation project, being constructed across the river Godavari, was increased to 51 meters and the works would be completed by September 15, the officials concerned apprised the Chief Minister.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy held a review meeting on works in progress of various irrigation projects, including the Polavaram project at his camp office at Tadepalli near here on Wednesday.
The works at Polavaram were going on despite Covid and monsoon, and the spillway gates height was increased to 51 metres while it was 28 metres initially and the works would be completed by September 15, the officials said. The Chief Minister told the officials to focus on Relief and Rehabilitation as well.
