Haryana to launch toll free number for farmers to inform about crop damage due to natural calamities

Chandigarh, Sep 10 (UNI) Haryana government would soon launch a toll free number for farmers to promptly inform about the damage caused to crops due to natural calamities.
The Central Government has only made available such toll free number till now.
Giving this information while replying to a question of MLA Parminder Singh Dhull during the ongoing session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister OP Dhankar informed the House that during last three years, claims amounting to Rs 300 crore were received under ‘Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana’ (PMFBY), of which the insurance companies provided compensation of about Rs 232 crore to three lakh farmers. He said that the PMFBY is proving to be a boon for the farmers. The opposition has been misleading and they had never thought of crop insurance, he added.
