Jammu, Apr 14 (UNI) Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman of State Legal Aid Committee, J&K Prof Bhim Singh on Saturday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to refer the Kathua rape and murder case to the CBI.
In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Prof Singh said that as this matter deserves to be investigated thoroughly to the satisfaction of even Secretary-General of the United Nations who has mentioned in his interaction in New York saying that, “I think we've seen the media reports of this horrific case, of the abuse and the murder of a young girl. We very much hope that the authorities will bring the perpetrators to justice so they can be held accountable for the murder of this young girl.”
Prof Singh has urged Prime Minister, to exercise his exclusive powers which his government can exercise under the special circumstances to hold an independent probe into the alleged rape and murder of eight-year-old girl in Kathua district.
He said that in such a situation the Govt of India can hold a suo-moto inquiry into the most tragic incident where a girl remained missing for seven days after her disappearance in the forest.
