Hyderabad, Sep 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan flagged off the metro train services between Ameerpet and L B Nagar here on Monday.
The 16 km new metro line is built by L&T at a cost of more than Rs 14,000 crore under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
The new metro line adds 17 new stations which takes the count of stations between L B Nagar and Miyapur to 28. With the launch of this line, the total metro stretch reached to 46 km forming the second largest stretch in the country after the Delhi Metro.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Miyapur-Nagole elevated stretch under Hyderabad Metro Rail project in November last year which now records footfall of 85,000 passengers per day.
Mr Narasimhan and all other dignitaries travelled from Ameerpet to L B Nagar covering a distance of 16 kms.
Later speaking at the gathering at L B Nagar, Mr Narasimhan urged the city people use metro rail because it give us relief from pollution and traffic. It would also reduced fuel consumption. The Metro station also build a multi-purse stations. Passengers could use it as the place of transportation, tourism and recreation. They could buy food items commodities in the metro station itself, he said.
He said, “ My dream is to being all the services including travel, purchase in a single card. He asked the care taker Minister Rama Rao to work in this direction and bring it as early as possible”.
Mr Narasimhan also urged the L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) authority to complete the stretch of Ameerpet to Hi-Tech City (8.5 kms) by December 15, 2018 and bring it to operational.
Earlier, in his address Mr Rama Rao thanked Governor Naramismhan for inaugurating Metro Rail services between Ameerpet and L B Nagar.
He said that this project is one of the biggest metro project (72 kms) under PPP in the world. The total project cast is 14,132 crore. The state government is spending Rs 3000 crore for land acquisition. Central Government extending Rs 1,450 crroe under Viability Gap Funding (VGF) and the L & T is spending more than Rs 12,000 crore in the project, Mr Rama Rao said.
The care taker Minister said that the metro stations were built with world infrastructure. The Metro Rail project also secured several national and international awards.
While claiming that the Hyderabad Metro Rail is the world’s best metro Rail, Mr Rama Rao said that the metro rail works were completed by using modern technology without any inconvenience to the people. The metro stations were built with multi-transport facilities like, auto, bus and cars. Foot over Bridges, sky walks also arranged in the metro stations, he said and added that the metro station surroundings also developed in association of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) under urban rejuvenation progarmme.
To provide last mile and first mile connectivity, bi-cycle stations, electrical-two-wheelers and four-wheelers also introduced in the Metro Stations, Mr Ram Rao said.
