GPL CEO Sambasiva Rao and COO V Janardhan Rao handed over the cheque to Visakhapatnam District Collector V Vinaychand.
The cost of each ambulance would be around Rs 25 lakh and this initiative is a step to support the vision of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is determined to provide healthcare for all in the state and enable good governance in the remotest part of the region.
The contribution by GPL towards procurement of new 108 Ambulances will help the state government in saving lives and extend healthcare benefits.
The 108 Ambulances would enhance the outreach and reduce response time for critical care and accidental cases.
All the vehicles will be fitted with Advance Life Support (ALS) system in place of the existing Basic Life Support (BLS) System. It is also envisaged to enhance the size of the fleet and introduce more service points in order to reach the caller within 25-30 minutes.
In a statement, Gangavaram Port Management said “GPL has always attempted to contribute towards the social development of the State'.
The donation for purchase of ambulances will enable the accessibility of ambulance services to a wider section of community, the statement added.
