Govt taking stringent action against irregularities related to economic issues: PM

New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) Breaking his silence on the Punjab National Bank scam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said government is taking stringent action against irregularities related to economic issues and will not accept irregular acquisition of public money.
Addressing the Global business summit, the PM, in an apparent reference to the recent bank frauds, said, 'This government is taking stringent action against irregularities related to economic issues and will continue doing so. This system will not accept irregular acquisition of public money.'
Speaking at the summit, the PM, crediting the NDA government at the Centre of lending strength to economy of the country as well as that of the world, said that the world was today talking about India's aim to develop a 5-trillion dollars economy and not its 'Fragile 5' status.
'Four years ago, when India was talked about, it was counted among the 'Fragile 5' economies. Today, the world is talking about India's aim to become a 5-trillion dollars economy and not its 'Fragile 5' status. Today, the world wants to walk shoulder to shoulder with India,' he said.
The PM said that in the last three-four years, India has lent strength to economy of the country as well as that of the world.
As per IMF figures, at end of 2013, India's contribution to the world GDP was 2.4 per cent which has increased to 3.1 per cent, he said.
