Goa CM, Sports Minister wish FIFA U 17 WC teams

Panaji, Oct 6 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday welcomed all the participating teams of FIFA U 17 World Cup some of the matches of which are to be held in the state and wished of luck.


On his tweeter handle, the Chief Minister wrote,''I welcome all the participating teams and fans to Goa for #FIFAU17WC. Best of luck to @IndianFootball.''


State Sports Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar also wished the team India and other teams all the best.


Mr Ajgaonkar tweeted, ''Best wishes to Team India & other teams as Football takes over today @FIFAcom Lets celebrate Football in God's Own Abode #GOA #FIFAU17WC.''


The prestigious event will kick-off today here where Colombia will clash against Ghana in the first match followed by India taking on the US later in the evening.

The Goa matches will be played at Pt Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Fatorda in Margao, which will host nine matches from October 7 to October 21.
