Goa CM reviews work of GST implementation & revenue augmentation

Panaji, Dec 30 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant reviewed implementation of Goods and Services (GST) and augmentation of revenue in the state at a meeting of Finance Department and Commercial Tax Department Officers at his official residence at Altinho on Monday.
According to a statement, the Chief Minister reviewed the GST registrations in Goa and issued necessary instructions to all officials to start a special drive for the month of January 2020 wherein the field staff would go in the field and identify such business persons who were liable for taking GST registration, but have avoided the same and evaded tax. Such persons would be forced to take GST registration.
Dr Sawant reviewed the position of GST registrations in Goa and observed that when GST came into force with effect from July 1, 2017, there were only 23,378 registered taxable persons in Goa but by the end of the 2019, there were 40,139 registered taxable persons in Goa. He issued necessary instructions to all officials to take measures to ensure that all those who should compulsorily take registration should obtain GSTIN by filing online application and those avoiding tax should be taken to task.
