Global fish workers meet in Delhi, eyeing Modi's Sagarmala project

New Delhi, Nov 12 (UNI) Critically pointing towards the Union Government’s ambitious flagship programme ‘Sagarmala’, an ocean-based development concept, the World Forum for Fisher People (WFFP), is intensifying its fight against destructive fishing, pollution, encroachments and the effects of climate change, allegedly due to the dilution of environmental laws in the country.
The WFFP, an umbrella body of member organisations from 50 countries, will hold its seventh General Assembly in Delhi from November 15 to 21st, to discuss the status of fisheries in each country and strategies actions, the National Fish Workers Forum, the organiser, said.
WFFP is also a member of the Planning Committee of the International Planning Committee for Food Sovereignty, and the Civil Society Mechanism (CSM) of the UN Committee on World Food Security.

NCRTC launches campaign to encourage voting for LS polls

New Delhi, April 25 (UNI) In a bid to encourage passengers to exercise their democratic right to vote in the parliamentary elections, National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) on Thursday launched a campaign for the second phase of Lok Sabha polls, scheduled to be held on April 26.

New Delhi, Apr 25 (UNI) The second phase of the General Elections will decide the fate of 1210 candidates including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as voters spread across 13 states/UTs cast their votes on Friday. In total, there are 89 Lok Sabha seats in the second phase.
