Germany unveils stimulus package to boost economy

Berlin, Jun 4 (UNI) German Chancellor Angela Merkel has announced that the government would introduce a 130 billion euros (USD 146 billion) to boost the economy, hit badly by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The plethora of measures that were announced late on Wednesday night include temporarily reducing the value-added tax from 19 per cent to 16 per cent, doubling a government-supported rebate on electric car purchases and providing families with an additional 300 euros per child support.
Deushe Welle reported that the package also creates a 50 billion euros fund for addressing the challenge posed by climate change, encouraging innovation and digitisation in the German economy.
