Gang of burglars busted in Vizag

Visakhapatnam, Dec 22(UNI) The Port city police on Friday busted a gang of burglars including three women and recovered 1.66 kgs of gold ornaments and 6kgs of silver ornaments from their possession.
Police claimed to have solved over 51 property offences with the arrest of this 15 member burglary gang including 48 cases under various police stations limits in Vizag city and three cases in East Godavari district.
The gang leader Chukka Sreenu (43) is an apparent kleptomaniac (An impulse control disorder that results in an irresistible urge to steal.) and had taken the crime route in 1992. Sreenu, resident of Malkapuram area in Vizag city was involved in over 160 property offences and he was convicted in over 110 cases,police added.
DCP (Crimes) Shemushi Bajpayee said that the other accused in the property offences were identified as K Vasu (26), R Nagaraju (40), L Rajasekhar (46), D Suresh (37), M Sudheer Kumar (21), KLV Prasad (24), K Padma (45), K Appalaraju (53), M Lakshmi (40), M Narayanamma (41), D Govind (24), M Santosh Kumar (28), D Venkat (26) D Siva Kumar (35), all are residents of various parts of the city.
Explaining the modus of operand, the DCP said that the gang leader Sreenu has divided the gang in four groups and each group used to conduct the recce during the morning hours to find out the locked houses in their localities and they break the houses in night and decamp with valuables. Since the year 2013, the gang have committed about 51 offences out of which 47 have been reported from various places in city, while Kakinada and Anakapalle regions have reported three and one case respectively .
