New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) A three-day long India’s largest foundry industry event which will be attended by around 1200 delegates from 15 countries was inaugurated at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida on Friday.

'Institute of Indian Foundrymen is looking at putting up a common sand reclamation or recycle units

in major foundaries set up at Agra, Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Aligarh, Kanpur and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh in order to reclaim waste sand generated from foundaries, said Shashi Kumar Jain, President, Institute of Indian Foundrymen, said.

He said the association will encourage foundary clusters to jointly set up sand reclamation units in order to recycle and reuse the sand to lessen the dependence on river sand to further check illegal mining and save environment and check pollution .

He said about 2 million tonnes sand is used in UP foundaries annually for production process and this move will ensure optimum use of natural resources besides solving the problem of land filling and waste disposal problems and mainly benefit small and tiny units.

He added that the used sand will be put to process of washing, heating and others, the used sand are cleaned of bonding agents and reused in casting production.
