Islamabad, Mar 11 (UNI) An accountability court on Monday indicted the erstwhile Pakistan Premier Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and ex-law minister Babar Awan including seven other persons, in the Nandipur Power Project reference.
Judge Arshad Malik announced the decision at a hearing that was attended by both senior politicians, Express Tribune reported. The decade-old mega scam also features some of the bureaucratic heavyweights including former law secretaries Riaz Kiyani and Masood Chisti, consultant Shamila Mahmood, joint secretary Riaz Mehmood and secretary water and power Shahid Rafi.
The case, filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), alleged that those party in the scam caused a loss of Rs 27 billion to the national exchequer through a deliberate delay in the project. However, the accused pleaded not guilty.
