Former DGP Gupteshwar calls on Nitish, keeps his cards closed on next move in politics

Patna, Sep 26 (UNI) Former Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey who had taken Voluntary
Retirement from Service (VRS) on September 22, amid speculations that he is all set
to open his new inning in politics, today called on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Mr Pandey, told media persons after calling on Mr Kumar at JD(U) office, that it was
a courtesy meeting with him after end of his long career as IPS officer in Bihar.
Mr Kumar had given him full freedom to work in various capacities including as DGP
in long career as police officer and it was a courtesy call to express his gratitude to CM,
he added.
Former DGP said he had not taken as yet to contest election when asked. He denied
that he was joining JD(U) or any other political party.
He remained closeted with Chief Minister for almost 10 minutes, in presence of other
senior JD(U) leaders.
Mr Pandey, whose career lasted for 33 years as IPS officer, had worked in various
capacities in 26 districts of Bihar.
He was made DGP on January 31, 2019 and was to retire on February 28, 2021 but
had taken VRS on September 22, sparking speculations over starting his new political
career.
