Gangtok, Aug 20 ( UNI) Former Chief Minister, Pawan Chamling, today greeted the Nepali speaking people across the world and Sikkimese also on the 27th Language Recognition Day of Nepali, its inclusion in the 8th schedule of the Constitution of India.
He has said, 'Taking language to International level as something important and each one contributing to it would be more so. We should all pledge to enrich the Nepali language at the International level. The history of emphasis on recognition of Nepali language began with Anand Singh Thapa 1956 and continued until the language was included in the 8th schedule of the Constitution of India. Those with love for language worked hard, sacrificed and struggled a lot during the period. Today we are remembering all of them. We need to evaluate the extent to which we have availed of benefits after recognition of the language. If we do not speak in our language, respect it and love it no one will do it for us.’
