Shivamogga, July 21 (UNI) BJP Karnataka unit president B S Yeddyurappa on saturday alleged that under JD(S)-Congress government headed by H D Kumaraswamy, the financial condition of the state had gone back to worse compared to previous Congress government.
Speaking at a press conference here, he said the Congress government under Mr Siddaramaiah had taken several wrong decisions on financial policy and it had continued under the coalition government. The former chief minister had resorted to huge borrowings that the state's economy was not able to digest but Mr Kumaraswamy was continuing it pushing the state's finance to peril.
He said there was lot of confusion over farmers loan waiver as the government had not clarified how it would repay the PSU banks. While the government said it would pay these banks in four installments will the Reserve Bank of India agree for this, he asked.
Mr Yeddyurappa said the state government by not reimbursing the farm loan waiver funds to cooperative banks coming under state government's powers had pushed them to the brink of bankruptcy.
'It has been two months since this government came to power, but it is yet to take off. The government has not appointed district in-charge ministers, over Rs 10,000 crore bills payable in the PWD department is pending hampering progress while Rs 730 crore due to be paid to milk producers as support price is yet to be paid. Even pension to the old and monthly allowance to the handicapped has been kept pending,' he said.
He said the government had failed to come to the rescue of people in Malnad districts.
