Export Inspection Council to be established in Goa to look after testing of Formaldehyde in fishes

Panaji, Oct 12 (UNI) Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has said that Export Inspection Council (EIC) will be established in the state which will look after the Konkan region with necessary equipments to test Formaldehyde in fishes as per international standards.
In a post on Facebook, the minister also said that Goa Government had agreed to give out spaces to set up the laboratory.
''Export Inspection Council (EIC) will be established in Goa which will look after the Konkan region with necessary equipments to test Formaldehyde in fishes as per international standards. The government of Goa has agreed to give out spaces to set up the laboratory so that we can fast track the project and have a state of art facility in Goa on lines of Odisha. It will also look after checking of Milk, Vegetables, Fruits and many other items. This will helps us in not only detecting formaldehyde but also eliminate it completely through international protocols termed by EIC & Quality Council of India. Our goal is to maintain international standards of food safety for the citizens of Goa,'' he said in the post.
