NEIFT’s mega fest in US on Dec 11

New Delhi, Nov 26 (UNI) North East Institute of Fashion Technology (NEIFT), Assam is all set to organise their annual mega festival ’Celebrating North East’, at Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Centre, Washington DC, in US on December 11.

NEIFT has been organising the festival for the last 14th editions in Delhi and Guwahati with the vision to create a 360 degree awareness of North East India and play a vital role in promotion of Tourism Sector, Textile Sector, Cultural and Musical Heritage etc, thereby creating Investment Friendly Environment in the North East Region.
“NEIFT feels that in the post Covid era, a re-thinking on strategies to promote the tourism sector is the need of the hour. Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a clarion call to Indian diaspora to be ‘Rashtradoots’. His dream of each Indian to inspire five non-Indian friends to visit India will make the “Chalo India” campaign a huge success and will act as a revolutionary step for the Indian tourism industry,” a statement said here on Saturday.
NEIFT CEO Vikram Rai Medhi is of the opinion that the 4.2 million strong Indian diaspora of US will definitely play a huge role in making ‘Chalo India’ a game changer for the Tourism Sector of the country.
“The festival will be an apt platform to publicise the ‘Chalo India’ campaign amongst a strong unified community consisting of doctors, IT professionals, MNC employees, restaurateurs and chefs, as well as entrepreneurs, who have access to large groups of social, professional and business counterparts through school gatherings, medical associations, social clubs and clientele,” Mr Medhi said here, addressing the media persons.

He highlighted the components of the event at Washington DC. “It will have a thematic exhibition arena, a B2B meet-cum-Open Forum on Tourism Potentials of the Exotic North East of India and Growth of Sustainable Textiles for ‘Textile Tourism’. The Venue is walking distance from Landmark addresses like: The White House, The Capitol Hill, The Washington Monument etc,” he said.

“The Cultural programme will have various Folk Dance Forms like Xatriya, Tiwa, Bihu, Manipuri, Mizo etc. Live bands from North East region will enthrall the International Audience and one of the main attraction of the evening will be performance by Zubeen Garg,” he further said.
“The majestic Stage and Runway will feature Fashion Show by Topline Designers coming from different North East States. Senators, Governors, Ambassadors, Political Bigwigs of Washington DC, International Media, Stakeholders of the Tourism and Textile Sectors etc, shall participate and attend the event,” he added.
