ED attaches property worth Rs 5.2 Cr of BBMP contractors in money laundering case

New Delhi, Jan 29 (UNI) Enforcement Directorate (ED) has provisionally attached, under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, (PMLA), the movable and immovable properties worth Rs 5.2crore of contractors of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), an official release said here on Tuesday.
The attached immovable properties were land and buildings located in various places of Bangalore and Mysore which registered value comes to Rs 3,36,83,158. Attached movable properties include bank deposits worth Rs 1,83,00,000 belonging to various contractors of BBMP.
The central probe agency move comes after the registration of FIR by Bangluru branch of CID which filed the charge sheet against contractors and engineers of BBMP for causing loss to BBMP by indulging in illegal activities in civil work at Malleshwaram, Gandhi Nagar and Rajarajeshwari Nagar Divisions of BBMP.
