EC declares poll for Mah Legislative council after Narayan Rane's resignation

New Delhi, Nov 14, (UNI) The Election Commission of India on Tuesday decided to hold byelection to Maharashtra Legislative Council on December 7 to fill a casual vacancy created following the resignation of Narayan Rane, elected by the members of Legislative Assembly.
Mr Rane resigned on September 22 after he quit the Congress party citing differences with party leadership.
The notification for the poll will be issued on November 20th and last date of making nomination is November 27th, the Election Commission said in a statement.
The scrutiny of nominations will be on November while last date for withdrawal of candidature is November 30.
The Counting of votes will be held on December 7th, the statement said.
