EC announces MCC in Telangana

Hyderabad, Sep 27 (UNI) Telangana State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Rajat Kumar on Thursday announced that Part 7 of the Model Code of Conduct will come into effect in Telangana state, going for polls.
In a letter addressed to all the Chief Secretaries of all states and Union Territories, the Election Commission (EC) directed the state that the Commission has considered the matter of application of the MCC in the cases of premature dissolution of the Legislative Assembly, where a caretaker government has been asked to carry on the administration of that particular state or union territory for the purpose of a free, fair, transparent, and robust electoral process.
On a careful consideration of the matter, while observing the order of the Supreme Court in S R Bommai and Ors Vs Union of India & Ors (1994), the caretaker government should merely carry on the day-to-day governance and desist from taking any major policy decision.
