Colombo, May 14 (UNI) The Sri Lankan government has banned three Islamist extremist organizations, including the National Thowheed Jama'ath (NTJ), responsible for carrying out country's deadliest terror attacks on Easter Sunday, in which at least 258 people, including 44 foreigners 10 of them Indians were killed and more than 500 others injured.
Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena issued an extraordinary gazette on Monday night, banning the three extremist organisations, including Jama'athe Milla'athe Ibrahim (JMI) and Willayath As Seylani, among others.
The three extremist organizations have been proscribed, "For the purpose of ensuring the continuance of peace within the country and in the interest of national security, public order, and the rule of law" reported Colombo page.
