Drug worth Rs 5.78 cr seized in border area of Manipur

Imphal, Jan 13 (UNI) Tengnoupal Battalion today nabbed a narcotics smuggler carrying 1,44,000 WY Tablets and 732 grams Brown Sugar worth about Rs 5.78 crores from Permanent Vehicle Check Post (PVCP), Khudengthabi in the Manipur Myanmar border area.
On the basis of reports from to Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Imphal, troops of Khudengthabi Post stopped a Silver Coloured Maruti Omini Van, bearing registration No MN04A 8994 travelling from Moreh to Imphal for checking. On carrying out a thorough checking of vehicle, Blue coloured packets carrying 1,44,000 tablets and Orange colour powder packets suspected to be Brown Sugar weighing approximately 732 grams, were found hidden inside charcoal bags kept at the rear of the vehicle. Noor Khan, of Urup Awang Leikei, Urup, Lilong, Thoubal district was apprehended while smuggling the narcotics.
The WY tablets were hidden in 720 pouches weighing 15kg(including the plastic) and were worth Rs 4.32 crores, while the brown sugar was hidden in 54 pouches worth approximately Rs 1.46 crores. The total worth of the seizure is approximately Rs 5.78 crores.

Aizawl, Apr 28(UNI) At least 650 homes including 51 houses in Tualpui and Vanka villages of northeastern Khawza distrrict have been ravaged by rain accompanied by massive hailstorm and gusty wind in Mizora on Saturday morning
Sources said 24 houses houses have been destroyed in Tualpui and 27 houses damaged in Vankal village when a heavy hailstorm hit the two villages at around 2 AM on Saturday morning.
