New Delhi, Jan 24 (UNI) External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on Friday expressed concern at the
'serious attack' on an Indian student in Toronto in Canada and directed the ministry officials to help with her family's visa.
"Deeply shocked to learn of the serious attack on Rachel Albert, an Indian student in Toronto, Canada. Am asking MEA officials to help with her family’s visa. Family members may immediately contact us on +91 9873983884," Dr Jaishankar tweeted.
The Minister's response came to a missive on Twitter from the victim's relative who wrote:
"Good morning (to Dr Jaishankar), my nice Rachel (Tamilian) who have gone to Canada for studies was stabbed and hospitalised ... Please do help her".
Meanwhile, the External Affairs Minister called on BJP's newly elected national president J P Nadda
and congratulated him for taking over the new responsibility.
Dr Jaishankar wished Mr Nadda good luck in discharge of his new role.
