DMK opposes privatization of power distribution company in UT

Puducherry May 26 (UNI) Opposing the reported move of the Central government to privatize the power distribution company (Discom) in the Union Territory, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Tuesday extended all support to the steps taken by Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on the issue.
In a statement here, DMK (South) Convener R Siva MLA said the Chief Minister had announced that he would oppose the move and cautioned that it should not be like the opposition to NEET when the Chief Minister opposed and succumbed to pressure form the Centre.
Mr Siva pointed out that the poor people and farmers will not get free power supply like now if the sector was handed over to private parties.
