New Delhi, Feb 13 (UNI) A Delhi Court on Thursday adjourned for February 17 for further hearing in a petition filed on behalf of the parents of Nirbhaya, seeking issuance of fresh death warrants against the convicted in Nirbhaya case.
Parents of Nirbhaya has filed the plea before Additional Session Judge Dharmender Rana for issuance of fresh death warrants against the convicted who had brutally tortured and killed their 23-year-old daughter in a crime which shook the conscience of the entire country.
Parents submitted through the petition that one week deadline given by Delhi High Court to end the legal process before the execution came to an end.
Delhi High court had given one week time to the convicted on February 5, 2020 to exercise their legal remedies.
The court of Additional Session Judge offered counsel of legal aid to one of the convicted Pawan Gupta when he said he had dismissed his lawyer earlier.
The court of Additional Session Judge has earlier passed an execution against Vinay Sharma, Pawan Gupta, Mukesh Singh and Akshay Singh initially for January 22 and then February 1, but the same did not take place as one convict after another filed various petitions.
Prosecution has said the convicted are deliberately delaying the process of execution.
Additional Session Judge Dharmender Rana after hearing the submission on behalf of Pawan Gupta that he has removed his lawyer. The court said that the convicted is entitled to legal aid till his last breath and directed Delhi Legal Service Authorities (DLSA) to provide a Lawyer to Pawan. DLSA provided a list of penal lawyers to the father of Pawan for legal aid.
After hearing the submission court appointed Ravi Qazi Advocate for Pawan Gupta and adjourned the matter for further hearing on Monday so that he could appropriately represent on behalf of convicted Pawan.
