Delhi CM announces ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to kin of Alipur fire incident

New Delhi, Feb 16 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday announced compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 2 lakh for those seriously injured in the Alipur factory fire incident, which has claimed eleven lives.
The CM has also announced assistance of Rs 20,000 for those with minor injuries while taking stock of the situation in Alipur where the fire broke out yesterday evening.
Speaking to reporters, Kejriwal said, “It's an unfortunate incident. We will provide Rs 10 lakhs each to the families of the deceased, Rs 2 lakhs each to the people with major injuries, and Rs 20,000 each to the people with minor injuries.”
The CM further added that it has been reported that the fire tenders reached the spot late. "I will order an inquiry into the matter, and whoever is found guilty will not be spared. Action in this matter will be taken soon," he said.
At least eleven people were killed, and four were reported injured after a massive fire broke out in a paint and chemical factory in a market area in North Delhi’s Alipur on Thursday evening. All the injured have been taken to the nearest Raja Harishchandra hospital, according to an official from Delhi Fire Services (DFS).
According to the official, the fire was reported at 5:25 pm yesterday, and nearly 22 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire had been brought under control by around 9 pm.
Additionally, two motorcycles, two cars, and one mini-truck were engulfed by the flames.
A search operation is currently underway at the incident site, the official added.
