Decision making is decentralised for smooth running of business in Telangana: Jayesh Ranjan

Hyderabad, Apr 1 (UNI) Telangana Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Department, Jahesh Ranjan said that the decision making has been fully decentralised for smooth running of business and movement of essential commodities in the state.
Mr Jayesh Ranjan said during a webinar on "EXIM Trade during the Lockdown of pandemic COVID19, jointly organised by the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) and FICCI, for the importer and exporter community in the state of Telangana,
''Absence of masks and personal care protection is becoming a real challenge as most of it comes from China, posing us a major bottleneck to fight against corona virus. Though some domestic players are manufacturing these items, we mostly depends on China for these products.
Unless cargo ships and cargo flights are permitted into India from China, we have to face some challenges for some more time. We are working on this at central and state levels. So far only one flight is coming from China per week to Delhi which is grossly inadequate to meet our demands. We are putting efforts to increase the frequency of those flights and to destinations like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai and Mumbai,'' he added.
Speaking on specific questions on facilitating exports and removing bottlenecks for imported goods specially with respect to last mile connectivity, Mr Jayesh Ranjan said ,''Although there is a responsibility to promote export & import, when seen in the larger context of lockdown we need to exercise utmost caution for the health and safety of our people. Because any kind of activity requires people to come out to do transactions and business which involves interactions giving a chance for the virus to spread among communities..
Though we understand the importance of doing some basic level activity, we need to keep in mind that it has to be in our interests and mainly for facilitating imports to start with. Pharma is a big exporter from our region. But we need to understand that we have domestic market also for pharma to serve. I am at this point not sure when we can allow usual kind of export business wrt exports of pharma given the circumstances, unless there is a global emergencies for our products. we have decentralised the entire operations. Respective District Collectors and police officials were authorised to make necessary assessment and give permissions for manufacturing and movement of goods and people,'' he said.
Mr J S Chandrashekar, IRS, Principal Commissioner, Hyderabad Customs Commissionerate, Mr Saurabh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo, Mr D Satyanarayana, IRTS, Chief General Manager, Container Corporation of India Ltd. And Mr Karnendu S Jasti President FTCCI also attended the webinar.
