Days after Modi's Lahore visit, terrorists attacks Pathankot air base ; 4 neutralised

Patankot/New Delhi, Jan 2 (UNI) Within 10 days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's goodwill visit to Lahore, terrorists attacked a well fortified Pathankot Indian Air Force base early today leading to a fiere gun battle between ultras and security forces, that left four terrorists dead. Reports from Pathankot, Chandigarh and sources in the capital here said a group of terrorists believed to be associated with Jaish-e-Mohammad attacked near the air base in the wee hours, two were killed in the ensuing gun battle between them and the security forces while remaining two who were holed in a building in the adjoining domestic area were neutralised later in an encounter that continued for more than 5 hours. A combing operation was being carried out at the airbase to rule out the possibility of any more attacker hiding inside the base, sources said in the capital here. MORE UNI MK/RKS DS SS SHS 0945
